Jen H. Bell has become a designer for the architectural firm of Lambert Ezell Durham Architecture Interior Design in Florence. She received an interior design degree in 2002 from Louisiana Tech University. She previously graduated in 1997 from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities with an emphasis in art. She was employed for the past three years with an architectural firm in Shreveport, La.

  • Dr. M. Burton Anderson, a Florence chiropractic physician, was recently honored at the Alabama State Chiropractic Association Convention with the Chiropractor of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding service to the profession. Anderson also received an award for Distinguished Service to the Chiropractic Profession and the Presidential Award.

  • Sherry Harris Owens, a native of Tuscumbia, was recently elected as president of the North Carolina Association of Nurse Anesthetists for the 2005-06 year. She is a graduate of Coffee High School and the daughter of Mary C. Harris and the late Dr. Sim Otis Harris.

  • Dr. Ann Dunaway, a chiropractic physician in Muscle Shoals, has been elected to serve as the new president of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association. Her term began Oct. 1.

  • Gary Muns, license inspector in Florence since 1994, has been named president of the Alabama Municipal Revenue Officers Association. He began his municipal career in Florence as a police officer in 1981. He is a certified municipal revenue officer and revenue examiner.

  • Chip Cagle has been named president and chief executive officer of Hospice of the Shoals. He has more than 16 years of hospice experience, having held various administrative and ministerial positions with hospice organizations in Alabama and North Carolina. Cagle has degrees from the University of Mississippi, New Orleans Theological Seminary and the University of North Alabama.

  • Jack Pettus, a graduate of Rogers High School, the University of North Alabama and the University of Alabama, has been chosen to represent the American Sugar Cane League on Capitol Hill. Pettus succeeds Florence native Don Wallace, who passed away earlier this summer. Pettus previously served on the board of directors for the North American Export Grain Association.

  • Catherine D. White will be the new director of human resources and affirmative action at the University of North Alabama. White will begin work at UNA on Oct. 30. She has been the human resources manager at Sara Lee Foods in Florence since 1998. White is a native of Sheffield and has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Alabama and a master of science degree from Clemson University.

  • Deborah Paseur, district judge for Lauderdale County, recently received a 300-hour certificate for completion of a continuing legal education program.

  • Michele Cain recently joined the Sylvan Learning Center of Florence as Director of Education. She has been with the Sylvan Learning Center of Jackson, Tenn., since 1996 and was formerly a special education teacher. She has a master's degree from Freed-Hardeman University and a bachelor's degree from Union University. She holds licenses in special education K-12 and educational administration and is certified as center director/director of education with Sylvan Learning.

  • Bob Eller has been named the division human resources manager for Gold Kist Northwest Alabama Division in Russellville. He will be responsible for managing human resources programs and policies for the Northwest Alabama Division and ensuring compliance with Gold Kist policies and procedures and all applicable federal and state employment related laws and regulations. He has approximately 24 years of human resource management experience in the meat and poultry industry.
