No one hurt in bus wreck

UNDERWOOD -- More than 30 students escaped injury Wednesday afternoon when the bus they were riding collided with a vehicle.

Officials with the Quad-Cities State Troopers Post said the accident happened on Lauderdale 7, one mile west of Florence at 3:15 p.m.

Authorities said the accident occurred when a 2005 Nissan driven by Terry Gray, 58, of Florence, collided with a 2004 International School Bus driven by 58-year-old Kenneth Oliver, of Florence.

Neither of the drivers were injured.

There were 35 passengers on the bus.

Head-on crash injures two

CENTRAL HEIGHTS -- A Wednesday afternoon head-on collision left two men injured, authorities said.

Officials with the Quad-Cities State Troopers Post said the accident took place at 1:55 p.m. on Alabama 20, 12 miles west of Florence.

Reports indicate Marcus Rowell, 33, and Forrest Rowell, age unknown, both of Florence, were injured in the accident.

They were taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital. Hospital officials said Marcus Rowell was admitted and is in fair condition, while Forrest Rowell was treated and released.

  • Benjamin Owen Young, 19, Emerald Beach Apartment 6, Killen; third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and harassment.

  • Phillip Davis Strickland, 38, 601 S. Seminary St., Florence; second-degree theft of property and home repair fraud.

  • Fernando Arvel King, 25, 14005 24th St., unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree possession marijuana and unlawful possession of a controlled-substance.

  • Michael Shawn Dooley, 37, 201 Heathrow Drive, Apartment 202G, Florence; unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Christopher Leshon Smith, 24, 1220 W. College St., Apartment B, Florence; unlawful possession of dangerous drugs and second-degree possession of marijuana.

  • Edwin Bernard Johnson, 49, 2710 Douglaston Ave., Florence; unlawful possession of a controlled substance and tampering with-evidence.

  • Vincent Versanger Burnett, 45, 1317 Jackson Road, Florence; third-degree burglary and attempted first-degree theft of property.

  • Cedric O'Neal Softley, 34, 290 Softley Lane, Tuscumbia; third-degree burglary and attempted first-degree theft of property.

    Tuscumbia Police

  • Criminal mischief: The front door was kicked in at a residence on Old Lee Highway.

  • Burglary: Someone broke into the office at Spring Creek Golf Course, but apparently ran off when the alarm sounded and a police officer arrived. Nothing was taken.

  • Theft: Costume jewelry, cash, medications, real jewelry and perfumes were taken from a residence on English Lane.

  • Theft: Cash was reported stolen from an apartment on Joe Wheeler Drive.

    Lauderdale sheriff

  • Recovered stolen property: A Kubota tractor and bush hog, reported stolen from a Lauderdale residence, were recovered on Lauderdale 90, Waterloo.

  • Burglary: A 5-horsepower motor, pressure washer, outside heater, seven chainsaws, a generator, a toolbox containing assorted tools and two lawn mowers were taken from a residence located in the 4800 block of Lauderdale 19, Florence.

  • Theft: A window air conditioner unit, 20-inch television, .22-caliber rifle, clock, three swords, two necklaces and a hunting knife were taken from a residence in the 700 block of Lauderdale 339, Killen.

  • Theft: A checkbook was taken from a residence in the 5800 block of Lauderdale 10, Florence.

  • Theft: Numerous checkbooks were taken from a residence on Lauderdale 47, Florence.

  • Theft: A 2002 Ford Escort was reported taken from a residence in the 3400 block of Lauderdale 126, Waterloo.

  • Criminal mischief: Someone broke into a residence in the 1200 block of Lauderdale 273, Florence, and dumped garbage and trash over the floors of the house.

  • Theft: A 1998 black S10 pickup was taken while it was parked on Arkdale Bridge on Alabama 64 near-Lexington.

  • Criminal mischief: A 1992 tan Ford van was damaged while parked at a residence in the 6300 block of Lauderdale 71, Lexington.

    Florence police

  • Burglary: A cedar chest, afghan, photo album, box of recipes, Christmas ornaments, and a souvenir bell from Yellowstone National Park were taken from a residence in the 200 block of Hillsboro Circle.

  • Theft: A car stereo, grill, vacuum cleaner, bucket, weed trimmer, mirror and assorted tools were taken from a business in the 400 block of East Tennessee Street.

  • Unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle: A MP3 stereo, two debit cards, UNA student identification card and brown leather billfold were taken from a 1997 black Jeep that was parked at Alabama 20 and Cypress Creek.

  • Unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle: A wallet, $8 in cash, insurance card and a driver's license were taken from a 2005 gray Ford Focus that was parked at a shopping center on Florence-Boulevard.

  • Burglary: Two motorcycle tires, a 17-inch drag-Lite with tire, motor parts and a wooden bench were taken from a residence in the 400 block of Thorn Street.

  • Burglary of a vehicle: A CD player, headphone and CD were taken from a 2005 white Pontiac Vibe that was parked in the 100 block of Blaze Drive.

  • Unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle: A pair of black leather gloves was taken from a 1999 white Honda Accord parked in the 100 block of Roxie Drive.

  • Theft: A .32-20-caliber revolver and a bottle of prescription drugs were taken from a residence in the 800 block of Kendrick Street.

  • Theft: An electrical weather head with wiring, a roll of wire, breaker box and 50 feet of cooper welding leads were taken from a business in the 1600 block of State Street.

  • Criminal mischief: Someone threw a brick through the front door of a residence in the 400 block of Cherry Hill Homes.

  • Theft: Miscellaneous paperwork including car title, insurance card, birth certificate, Social Security card, 56 Lorcets and $140 cash were taken from a business on Florence Boulevard.

  • Unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle: A battery booster pack was taken from a 1996 white Chevrolet S10 pickup that was parked in the 1000 block of East Limestone Street.

  • Unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle: An iPod and $160 cash were taken form a 2003 maroon Dodge Neon that was parked in the 200 block of West Sequoia.

    Muscle Shoals police

  • Theft: A gummy Earbud, a pair of open star earrings, a pair of hoop earrings and a necklace were reported taken from a business in the 500 block of Avalon Avenue.

  • Theft: Four pairs of athletic shoes were reported taken from a business in the 200 block of Woodward Avenue.

  • Burglary of an automobile: Two 10-inch speakers were taken from a 1993 white Chevrolet Blazer that was parked at a shopping center on Avalon Avenue.

  • Theft: Two generators were taken from a business in the 2100 block of Maryland Street.

  • Burglary of an automobile: A DVD player was taken from a 2001 maroon Ford Windstar van that was parked at a business in the 100 block of Woodward Avenue.

  • Theft: A program key was taken from a business in the 1700 block of Woodward Avenue.
