I would like to comment about the religious and cultural holiday called Christmas. I do not know why so many businesses are afraid to offend a minority of people who may think that saying “Merry Christmas” is offensive.
The bill to make Christmas a holiday was introduced into the House of Representatives by Rep. Burton Chauncey, of Illinois. It was approved and passed to the Senate on June 24, 1870. When both houses had agreed on the wording, it was passed on to President Ulysses S. Grant, who signed it June 28, 1870.
