TUSCALOOSA — He’s arguably the most talented quarterback and the most recognizable Heisman Trophy candidate in spring drills, but AJ McCarron is just thankful he’s healthy.

McCarron opened spring drills Saturday as one of eight quarterbacks competing for the starting job at Alabama. His resume shows that he is the only quarterback in the history of a storied program to be the starter on two national championship teams, but don’t point out history to his head coach.
