Ed Henry, a conservative lawmaker from Hartselle who is pushing legislation to limit abortions in Alabama, told a gathering of anti-abortion activists Thursday that he accompanied a girlfriend for an abortion about 20 years ago.

“I murdered my first child,” Henry, a freshman Republican, told a crowd at an anti-abortion rally outside the Statehouse.
