FLORENCE — Ownership of one of the city’s most historic houses has returned to the family for whom it is most closely associated, and they are working to restore it.

Nancy O’Neal and her sister-in-law, Dianne O’Neal, bought the North Court Street home of Gov. Edward A. O’Neal late in 2012, and have begun restoration and renovation on the 166-year-old structure. It likely will be leased as office or retail space near the University of North Alabama.
