Records continue in the Shoals
At 2:57 p.m. Wednesday, the temperature at the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport in Muscle Shoals was 102 degrees, which is the hottest on record for Aug. 22 at the airport.
The previous record of 100 degrees was set in 1924 and again in 1987, according to National Weather Service archives.
With temperatures expected to be above 100 degrees again today, a heat advisory is in effect for all of north Alabama until 7 p.m.
The record high temperature for today is 101 degrees set in 1924.
Wilson Dam to close Friday
Wilson Dam will be closed to traffic Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Motorists who usually travel across the dam are urged to seek alternate routes.
