RUSSELLVILLE - A 4-month-old baby is in a Birmingham hospital while his father is accused of causing the brain injury that put him there.
Franklin County sheriff’s officials have arrested Raymond Matthews McKinney, 20, of 4570 Lot 1, Franklin 20, Phil Campbell, and charged him with attempted murder and child abuse.
McKinney is being held on a $350,000 bond.
Authorities said McKinney was arrested today after he was accused of jerking his son from the bed and shaking him in an apparent attempt to stop the child from crying.
According to reports, the child, who is in critical condition in Children’s Hospital, Birmingham, is suffering from a subdural hematoma, which is an acute brain bleed.
