The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting comments about a Florence man's plan to build a marina on Shoal Creek.

Richard Graham, a spokesman for the Corps of Engineers' Nashville office, said Randy Rollison is seeking a permit to build a commercial marina just upstream from U.S. 72.

Plans for a marina call for it to be built on the west side of the creek adjacent to an existing seawall.

The marina would be built within a 300-feet by 321-feet area and would include boat slips, a fuel and pump outdock and a boat launch and loading area.

The Corps of Engineers has determined that no historic properties would be impacted by the marina and it will not destroy or endanger and endangered species or their habitats.

Additional details about the marina are available by calling Graham at (615) 369-7507.

Written comments about the proposal can be mailed to: Nashville District Corps of Engineers, Regulatory Branch, 3701 Bell Road, Nashville, TN 37214, Attn: Richard D. Graham.

The deadline to submit comments is Feb. 9.

Tennessee seeks input

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is soliciting public input about the 2008-2009 hunting season.

Each year, the agency collects public comments about changes hunters and other outdoors enthusiasts would like to see during the upcoming hunting season.

The comments are considered by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission when establishing hunting seasons and regulations.

Letters recommending changes in hunting seasons and regulations should include the proposed change and justifications for the change.

Comments can be mailed to: TWRA, P.O. Box 41489, Nashville, Tenn., 37204.

The deadline to submit comments is Feb. 22.

Collegiate bass fishing

Anglers don't need a college degree to fish for bass, but they can fish for cash and prizes while pursuing one.

The Bass Federation is forming the Association of Collegiate Anglers to allow participating school-sanctioned clubs and anglers to compete in tournaments for prizes and a chance to fish in the Federation National Championship, Wal-Mart BFL All-American and the $2 Million Forest Wood Cup.

A college or university bass club must have at least six members to participate in the Association of Collegiate Anglers.
