Brent Barnes, of Decatur, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of West Morgan High School, he received United States Achievement Academy awards in Spanish, science and mathematics, as well as an outstanding writer award. At UNA, he is majoring in commercial music. Barnes is the son of Robert Barnes and Staci Ogle. Courtney Culbreath, of Huntsville, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Grissom High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, was named to the honor roll, received awards for academic excellence, was nominated for Who's Who Among American High School Students and was voted head of class by The Huntsville Times. As a member of the volleyball team, she was voted most improved, won honorable mentions as All-Metro and All-State and was a member of the 2007 All-State team. She is the daughter of Laura Southworth and Mike Culbreath. Amy Reynolds, of Vinemont, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Vinemont High School, she was a member of the math team, vice president of the National Honor Society, senior class secretary and head cheerleader and participated in student government. She is the daughter of Ricky and June Reynolds. Anna Corrigan, of Florence, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Florence High School, she was a member of the National Honor Society. Corrigan is a freshman at UNA majoring in nursing. She is the daughter of Monica Hunt and Edward Corrigan. Chase Gunter, of Jasper, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Walker High School, he was a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Key Club and student council and was Spanish Club vice president of the Spanish Club. He attended Bevill State Community College. At UNA he is a freshman majoring in biology with a minor in chemistry. He is the son of Barry and Pam Gunter. Christian Chuindja Ngniah, of Florence, received the Virginia Bayless O'Connell Endowed Scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A sophomore computer science major with a minor in mathematics and a dean's list student, he is a member of the Honors Program and freshman honor societies Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Delta Lambda. Erica Gholson, of Remlap, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Springville High School, she was captain of the varsity volleyball team and played on the all-county tournament team. She was a nominee for Who's Who Among American High School Students and was recognized by the Alabama Country and Gospel Music Association as best in category. She is the daughter of Ronald and Edna Gholson and plans to major in nursing and minor in music. Mary-Kate Crandall, of Athens, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Athens High School, she was a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council Association and French and science clubs. She was listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She is the daughter of Anthony and Katherine Evans and plans to major in art. Phillip Albright, of Florence, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Florence High School, he is a member of National Honor Society, National Honor Roll, Spanish Honor Society, Shoals Area Honor Band and Quad-Cities Honor Band. He placed first and third in the 2007 North Alabama State Fair art competition. He is the son of Mark and Melanie Albright. Christen Allen, of Hance-ville, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A graduate of Holly Pond High School, she was a member of Beta Club, Phi Theta Kappa and Society of High School Scholars and was on the National Dean's List. She plans to major in guidance counseling with a minor in foods and nutrition. She is the daughter of Steve and Heather Allen. Jessica Jordan Cooper, of Muscle Shoals, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Muscle Shoals High School, she participated in the Early Scholar program at UNA. She is president of Future Teachers of Alabama and member of National Honor Society and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She won second place in a state-wide art contest for the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and had three pieces of artwork accepted for "Artistic Renderings of Youth" at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts in Florence. She plans to major in professional chemistry and is the daughter of Elwood and Stacey Cooper. Matthew Fenton Daniels, of Rehoboth, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Rehoboth High School, he was an Alabama Boys State representative and was elected most outstanding city-government official. He is president of First Priority and the Student Council, student leader of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and member of the Honor Society. He received academic achievement awards in math, science and history and athletic awards for golf and basketball. He was a state speakers tournament finalist. Daniels is the son of Harry and Lisa Daniels. He plans to major in secondary education and math. Bridgett Dilbeck, of Killen, received awarded the E.L. Culver Endowed Scholarship from the University of North Alabama. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Northwest-Shoals Community College. She plans to major in elementary education at UNA. Courtney Freeman, of Loretto, Tenn., received a merit scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Loretto (Tenn.) High School, she is a member of BETA, Health Occupations Students of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, We're In This Together and Gold Record clubs. She is a volunteer state reader and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. She is the daughter of Jackie and Richard Freeman and plans to major in nursing. Michael Alan Fruendt, of Florence, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Central High School, he is on the honor roll and is a member of the chess club and PACE. He plans to major in science with a minor in computer science. He is the son of Richard and Melinda Hankley. Jackie David Gist, of Sheffield, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Muscle Shoals High School, he is a member of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and math competition team. He plans to major in business with a minor in music. He is the son of Leslie Carroll and Randy Gist. Heather-Lynn Griffin, of New Market, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Buckhorn High School, she was named to the AB Honor Roll and lettered in tennis and cross-country. She plans to major in elementary education with a minor in literature. She is the daughter of Keith and Meg Griffin. Victoria Hensley, of Killen, received the Elizabeth Gaines Mann Scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Mars Hill Bible School, she was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students, the president's and the principal's lists. She will graduate with honors. Hensley is the daughter of Jeffrey and Deborah Hensley. Her major at UNA is undecided. Jerame Keith Hill, of Boaz, received a merit scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Boaz High School, he is class president, a BHS distinguished scholar, second in his class and member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society and Alpha Beta Chi. He is a Junior Honor Marshall and Junior Ambassador and participated in the Emerging Leaders Conference at Jacksonville State University. He is a member of Marshall County All Academic-Athletic team and Youth Leadership, a four-year letterman and three-time All-County selection in football, four-year letterman in basketball and three-year letterman and All-Area selection in baseball. He is the son of Shena and Keith Hill and plans to major in business/finance with a minor in computer science. Jason Hewer, of Cullman, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. He is a senior at Cullman High School and attended Oakwood High School, in Dayton, Ohio, where he earned varsity letters for orchestra and was first violin. He earned two varsity letters for cross-country and track and received Scholar Athlete awards and the Coach's Award for track and cross-country. He plans to major in secondary education. He is the son of Tom and Susanne Hewer. Laurie Lee Johnson, of Florence, received the Betty Johnson Mullins and Festival of Trees scholarships from the University of North Alabama. A sophomore at UNA, she is a member of Gamma Beta Phi honor society, Phi Mu and the Sigma Chi Sweetheart Court. She is a marketing major and the daughter of Mike and Teresa Johnson. Kayla Kelley, of Killen, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at West Limestone High School, she is member of Beta Club, president of Future Business Leaders of America and a varsity cheerleader. She is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Kelley. Her major at UNA is undecided.n Brooke Kelly, of Killen, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Brooks High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society, the Drama Club, Future Business Leaders of America and science and foreign language clubs. Her major at UNA is undecided. She is the daughter of Chris Kelly and Laurie Vaden.
Angela Kilpatrick, of Jasper, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Walker High School, she is a member of National Honors Club, Beta Club, Anchor Club, Agape Club and Mu Alpha Theta. She is the daughter of Joan and Wayne Spainhoward and Randy Kilpatrick and plans to major in computer information systems. Haley Medved, of Gardendale, received an academic scholarship from the University of North Alabama. A senior at Gardendale High School, she is the historian of the National Honors Society, vice president of her senior class and member of student council. She received the Principal's Leadership Award and was Miss GHS. Her major at UNA is undecided. She is the daughter of DeborahMedved.
