A local man was attacked and robbed inside his home Saturday morning.
Florence police said the incident took place at a residence in the 500 block of Livingston Avenue, which is in east
Florence.
This is the second home invasion that has taken place in east
Florence within a week.
Lt. Randy England, a detective with
Florence police, said it is not believed that either robberies are connected.
“We have no indication that they are nothing but both isolated incidents,” England said.
Florence police detective David Bradley said that just after midnight Saturday, at least three men burst into a residence and attacked the 54-year-old resident.
“They forced their way into the residence and one of the men, according to witnesses, was armed with some type of blunt object,” Bradley said. “When they went into the house, the man and another man was in the living room. The three started attacking the 54-year-old man.”
Bradley said statements indicate that the resident pleaded for his life and that the attackers stopped beating him.
“He was very lucky; he only suffered some minors injuries and cuts to his face,” Bradley said. “He could have very easily been hurt seriously.”
Bradley said the second man at the residence was not injured.
Reports indicate the robbers took cash from the victim, a credit card and two bottles of prescription drugs containing more than 120 narcotic pills.
Investigators said the victim was not able to give police much of a description other than the attackers were white men.
“We did have some reports of a white car and a van being seen in the area around the time of the incident, but we don’t know if either were involved or if the attackers got into either vehicle,” Bradley said. “There could have been more people outside the residence that weren’t actually involved in the attack.”
On March 19, two men entered a residence on South Connor Street and held a family at gunpoint while robbing them. No one was injured in that robbery. The men were described as two black men.
England said detectives have developed leads in both cases.
“We are following up on the leads and hope to have a break in both cases very soon,” England said.
He said anyone knowing anything about either incident is asked to call the
Florence police at 768-2728 or Shoals Area CrimeStoppers at 386-8685.
