FLORENCE -- A 30-year veteran of the Florence Police Department has been named the department’s deputy chief.

Tim Shaddix, who began his career in law enforcement in 1982 as a deputy with the Lawrence County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Office, received his deputy chief pin during a ceremony today. Police Chief Rick Singleton and Mayor Bobby Irons did the honors.

The 49-year-old Shaddix will oversee the department’s services division, which includes all non certified personnel, community policing, street crimes, training and the special operations team.

Shaddix joined the department in 1988 and has served as a captain since 1994. He was currently serving as commander over the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
