MOULTON - A man who is accused of abusing two young children has pleaded guilty to the charges in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

Bobby Ray Lang, 49, 1 Auburn St., Town Creek, has pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child and child abuse.

He was sentenced to seven years on the sexual abuse of a child charge and five years on the child abuse charge. He has applied for probation.

Lang was arrested April 2, 2007, on the charges. He was accused of improperly touching two girls - ages 6 and 9 - who were spending the night with him and his wife.

Lang was also accused of touching them again while he was walking them home. According to police, Lang pulled down his pants and forced the children to touch him.

“They fought him off and ran away while his pants were down,” said Town Creek Police Chief Jerry Garrett.

Garrett said Lang lost items from his pants during the incident that officers found and that helped link him to the crime.

Lang has been in jail since his arrest in April 2007.
