MOULTON - A man accused of abusing two young children has pleaded guilty to the charges in Lawrence County Circuit Court.

Bobby Ray Lang, 49, 1 Auburn St., Town Creek, pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child and child abuse.

Lang was sentenced to seven years on the sexual abuse of a child charge and five years on the child abuse charge, according to the Lawrence County District Attorney's Office. He has applied for probation.

Lang was arrested April 2, 2007.

Reports indicate that Lang was accused of improperly touching two girls - ages 6 and 9 - who were spending the night with him and his wife on March 31, 2007.

Lang and his wife knew the girls' mother, according to reports.

Town Creek Police Chief Jerry Garrett said after Lang and his wife went to bed, Lang went into the bedroom where the girls were sleeping and touched them inappropriately.

"The girls apparently became so upset that they wanted to go home," Garrett said.

He said Lang was walking the two girls to the house of a family member early in the morning and is accused of taking them behind a building, where he touched them again, pulled his pants down and forced the children to touch him.

"The girls got away and ran to a family member's house while his pants were down," Garrett said.

The chief said Lang lost items from his pants during the incident and those items were recovered by police and were used to helped link him to the crime.

Authorities said after his arrest, Lang admitted his involvement. He has been in jail since his arrest in April 2007.
