Mercer strikes out 7 for Phil Campbell

Austin Mercer struck out seven and scattered four hits as Phil Campbell eliminated Sheffield with a 6-1 victory in the Litttle League (11-12) District 6 tournament Tuesday night.
Phil Campbell's Justin Knight finished a triple shy of the cycle, finishing with two singles, a double and a home run.
Brian Edgar added a pair of singles, and Colton Vickery tripled for the winners, who will play Russellville tonight at 6 p.m..
Sheffield was led by Andrew Corley's two singles. Steven Roden and Carter Wesson each doubled for Sheffield.
Dixie Minors
Tuscumbia 9, Moulton 7: In Greenhill, Trace Clark made a game-saving catch in the outfield in the sixth inning as Tuscumbia eliminated Moulton.
Winning pitcher Zack Skipworth struck out 10 and added a two-run single for Tuscumbia, while Logan Wright knocked in three runs with three hits and Micah Dalrymple had two hits.
Moulton 8, Rogersville 2 (Monday): Jackson Gillespie got the win, striking out eight in five innings. Corey Peters had two doubles and a single, while Ethan Belue had an RBI double for Rogersville.
Underwood 9, West Alabama 0: At the district tournament at Greenhill, Underwood's Drew Barton struck out five and allowed one hits in two innings.
Barton helped out his own cause, going 3-for-3. Eric Williams finished with three hits, while Jordan Depoyster and Ryan Green had two hits for Underwood, which will play the Rogers/Central loser today at 6 p.m.
Hatton 6, Rogers 3: Kamron Potter was the winning pitcher as Hatton stopped Rogers.
Potter, Kelvey Hallmark, Riley Nolen and Daniel Dudley had a hit each for Hatton. Caleb Morrow hit a two-run home run in the loss.
