Robbery suspects sought by police

Police are searching for two men who robbed a local convenience store Thursday night. Muscle Shoals police Lt. Sieg Mueller said the robbery occurred at 9 p.m. at Avalon Express, which is across from McBridge Elementary School.

"Two black males, one armed with a pistol, walked in and told the clerk to give them the money," Mueller said. "She took the cash drawer out and one of the robbers took the money and a pack of cigarettes and then both left." He said no one else was in the store when the robbery took place.

"In fact, they waited until a customer left before they went in," Mueller said.

One robber is 5 feet 5 inches tall, while the other was 5 feet 10 inches tall. Mueller said both wore bandanas, partially covering their faces. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 383-6746 or CrimeStoppers at 386-8685.

Drug-related charges for 2

Quick reaction by a deputy resulted in the arrest of two men wanted on outstanding warrants. Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May said deputy Dale Holley, while on patrol, saw a Franklin County man who he knew had outstanding warrants.

The sheriff said Harold Dyke, 42, of Russellville, and Thomas Jerald Hymans, 46, of Weakley Street, Florence, were arrested during the traffic stop. Dyke has outstanding warrants from Lawrence County Dyke was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, second-degree conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Hymans was arrested on second-degree conspiracy to manufacture a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon. Both are being held in the Colbert County jail.

Officials search for vandals

Lauderdale County officials are searching for the people responsible for damaging Rogers High School.

Authorities said the vandalism occurred between 6 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Reports indicate vandals broke or damaged 19 windows. Investigators said a rock or BB gun was used to break out the windows in the school office, classrooms and the science building.

Russellville police

• Katherine Sue Fields, 25, 709 Water St., Tuscumbia; third-degree burglary. Fields is accused of breaking into a residence on Winston Drive, Russellville, on July 8. She was arrested Tuesday and is out of jail on bail of $2,500.
