Charges against 29-year-old Jonathan Logan were filed after a lengthy investigation by local and state authorities, according to Colbert County Sheriff Ronnie May.
He said Logan, of 38 Holli Drive, Muscle Shoals, is charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana.
"This investigation had been ongoing for some time," May said. "Members of the drug task force put in a lot of time and effort, and they received leads and information from the community that helped in the investigation."
Logan, who works at Leighton Pharmacy, which is owned by his family, is accused of selling pills from his residence.
May said the arrest came after the drug task force, sheriff's office, Muscle Shoals police and the Alabama Pharmaceutical Board searched Logan's residence Thursday night. The search of the residence and Logan's vehicle resulted in a large number of prescription drugs - including hydrocodone and thentermine - being confiscated, May said.
Investigators said the pill bottles all had Leighton Pharmacy labels.
Members of the Alabama Pharmaceutical Board were at Leighton Pharmacy on Friday doing an inventory.
In addition to the pills, May said agents found and seized four guns and $350,000 in cash.
The sheriff said Logan told agents that he had the large amount of cash because he's in charge of finances for the pharmacy and the money was from the business, not from the sale of drugs.
Logan was placed in the Colbert County Jail and later released after posting bail of $5,050.
