Suspended Central High School math teacher and coach Greg Brewer has submitted his resignation as part of a settlement in a case where he was accused of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education Bill Valentine said Brewer submitted his resignation Friday. It could be voted on by the board of education as early as this week, he said.
Brewer had been on paid leave since late May after he was accused of inappropriate behavior with a 12-year-old female student.
Brewer was relieved of his coaching duties soon after the allegations surfaced and he was suspended with pay.
The school system and the Lauderdale Department of Human Resources investigated the case.
Brewer's resignation, as part of the settlement in the case, means the charge against him will be dismissed, according to his attorney, William Hovater.
Hovater would not give details of the case, but said it was handled in Lauderdale County Juvenile Court. He would not comment on the status of Brewer's state teaching certificate or if Brewer is being allowed to keep his teaching certificate as part of the settlement.
Lauderdale Circuit Judge Jimmy Sandlin, who also handles juvenile cases, said the juvenile court system has authority over some cases against adults that involve a crime against, or harm to a child. In such cases, "the record is public," Sandlin said. The juvenile's name is protected, however.
Officials close to the investigation said the allegations against Brewer involved inappropriate text messaging, hugging and kissing.
The school board filled Brewer's position with Zachary Cooper just before the beginning of the school year.
Cooper has taught four units of seventh-grade math this year in Brewer's absence.
