SHEFFIELD - A man who ran up more than $300 on his mother's credit card for phone sex is facing felony charges.

Mackenzie Patrick Riede, 25, 1411 Lynn St., Sheffield, has been charged with three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

"He took his mom's credit cards on three separate times, without her knowledge, and used them to call 1-900 phone lines," detective Chad Carruth said.

Carruth said Riede's mother didn't know her card had been used until she got her credit card bill.

"When she got the (credit card) statement, she confronted her son about the calls and he admitted to it," Carruth said.

The mother called Sheffield police.

"When I went to his house to question him, he saw me and ran out of the back door," Carruth said. "I was able to find him a short time later hiding under a neighbor's porch."

Carruth said Riede has also been charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.

Carruth said the first unauthorized charge on the card is dated May 28.

"He used it once that day and then a few days later he used in twice on the same day," Carruth said.

Reports indicate Riede ran up a bill of more than $313.

Fraudulent use of a credit card is a Class C felony and carries a penalty of 1-10 years in prison if convicted.
