Big inning boosts Underwood Ponytails

Extended to an elimination game at Killen, Underwood responded with a 10-run fifth inning to post a 14-4 victory over Muscle Shoals on Tuesday to advance to district play later this week.
Underwood plays Hartselle at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Colbert Heights.
Muscle Shoals forced a deciding game with a 2-1 win in the opener as Haley Willis pitched a one-hitter, Underwood rallied in the second game by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and then ended it in the fifth with a 10-run uprising.
In the decisive inning, Bailey Nelson had a bases-loaded triple, while Haley Hale and Stephanie Willis had two-run doubles.
Callie Givens was the winning pitcher in relief.
Macy Quillen led Muscle Shoals with two hits. Rachel Hunter added a triple and Haley Willis had a double.
Darlings
- Brooks 12, Colbert Heights 6: Brooks remained undefeated in the sub-district A with the win. Callie Burbank and Ally Lemaster led the Lions with three hits.
Maggie Sherrill, Grace West, and Alexandria Dodd finished with two hits.
Farm League
- Brooks 28, Lexington 3: Nine Brooks players had three hits apiece in the win.
- Underwood American 15, Cherokee 0: William Conrad had three hits, including a three-run homer. Jacob Blasingame had two hits with a solo homer. Taylor Spinks had two hits with two runs scored.
Jarred Borden had two hits for Cherokee in the loss.
- Underwood Nationals 18, Rogers 5: Breyden Handley led the Nationals with two hits and six RBIs. Jaden Daniels, Jesse Grey and Gabe Allen all went 2
for 4 with two RBIs, and Jackson McCreless added two hits.
American Legion
- Florence Post 11 8-11, Decatur 6-1: Evan Mansell had two hits, including a three-run home run, as the Florence Post 11 senior team rallied to beat Decatur in the opening game of a doubleheader.
Caleb Waddell's RBI double in the seventh inning gave Florence their first lead after Mansell's homer tied the game earlier in the inning.
Jordan Abroms got the win in relief for Florence.
Abroms, Waddell and Mitchell Self all had two hits as Florence routed Decatur in the second game to earn the sweep.
Quentin Honey got the win for Florence, tossing two innings and striking out two.
- Florence Post 11 9, Tupelo 1 (Monday): Rick Mills and C.K. Irby had two hits each and Evan Mansell added a two-run home run as Florence Post 11 defeated Tupelo.
Chase Thompson went the distance for Florence, striking out seven while allowing only four hits.

Darlings
- Brooks 18, Greenhill 7: Callie Burbank had three hits to lead Brooks. Grace West, Ally Lemaster, Baylee Marks, Gracie Martin, and Anna Harrison all had two hits apiece for the Lions.
Farm League
- Tuscumbia 12, Central 10: Hayden Stutts, Baldwin Carr and Ben Whitlock had three hits each as Tuscumbia defeated Central in Dixie Farm League play in Tuscumbia.
Brantley Holden, Ryan Kelly, Jeremy Johnson and Jalen Goodloe added two hits each for Tuscumbia.
Dalton Hanback had three hits and three runs scored in the loss for Central.
With the win Tuscumbia advances to face Underwood American today at 6 p.m.
