SAN FERNANDO - The son of the head basketball coach at California State University, Northridge, has been sentenced to probation and community service after pleading no contest to charges of stealing thousands from the Best Buy store where he worked.
Jeffrey Braswell, son of coach Bobby Braswell, pleaded no contest Thursday in San Fernando Superior Court to five felony counts. He was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to complete 300 hours of work service.
Prosecutors say Jeffrey Braswell used a fellow employee's password to log into a cash register at a Best Buy store, then allowed his friends to check out merchandise without paying.
Phannuel Gbewonyo and Northridge basketball player Deon Tresvant also were charged in the case.
