Muscle Shoals reaches championship game

Muscle Shoals eliminated Decatur from the 13-year-old district tournament with a 10-0 win at the Sportsplex on Thursday behind a strong pitching performance by Aaron Emmons, who struck out eight.
Trey Rutherford, Jordan Miller, Matthew Pearson and Emmons had to hits each to lead the offense.
Muscle Shoals advances to play unbeaten Hartselle today at 6 p.m. Muscle Shoals must beat Hartselle twice to claim the district title and a berth in the state tournament.
Dixie Youth (14)
Muscle Shoals 11, Rogers 4: Nick Isbell pitched six innings to get the win and Hunter Danley got the save as Muscle Shoals stopped Rogers.
Isbell added three hits and two RBIs. Jeremy Thigpen, Will Moore, and Kendall Johnson had two hits and two RBIs apiece in the win.
Muscle Shoals advances to play Central tonight at 6.
Dixie Farm League (7-8)
Underwood American 10, Winfield 5: William Conrad and Nate Reed had three hits each as Underwood American defeated Winfield to claim the Dixie Farm League District 11 championship.
Preston Smith, Austin Stanfield and Brycen Parrish each added two hits for Underwood.
Underwood advances to the inaugural Dixie Farm League AA State Tournament, which begins July 17 in Athens.
American Legion
Florence Post 11 12, Bloomington (In.) 5: Hunter Craigge had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three runs as the Florence Post 11 senior team defeated Bloomington in the first round of the Independence Day Classic in Columbia, Tennessee.
Evan Mansell, Zack Vick, Adam Butler and Hunter Thomas each added two hits for Florence.
Nathan Butler got the win, tossing four innings and striking out four.
Douglasville (Ga.) 9, Florence Post 11 5: Brian Davenport pitched seven strong innings, striking out six, but it wasn't enough as Florence fell to Douglasville (Ga.) in extra innings.
Evan Mansell took the loss in relief. Florence plays Brentwood (Tenn.) today at 2 p.m. to determine seeding for the tournament's single-elimination playoff.
Late Games
Farm League (7-8)
Underwood American 20, Brooks 18: Cadarrius Green finished with five hits, and Marc Johnson, Kareem Thompson and Preston Smith had three hits each as Underwood edged Brooks.
Koda Coosenberry led Brooks with four hits, while Gabe Rotton added three hits and Jacob Hall finished with two hits.
