Alabama Symphony performs tonight as part of the OnStage season.

  • OnStage 2009-10 season includes a performance by the Alabama Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 tonight in Norton Auditorium on the University of North Alabama campus, Florence.   • Performing at La Fonda Mexicana, Florence Boulevard, Florence, will be Saucy Jack with Barry Billings on Friday and Iguana Party on Saturday.

  • The Gary Nichols Band performs Friday at Side Pocket in Florence. Performing Saturday will be The Factory. Nichols also performs Wednesday night.

  • Joseph Baldwin performs as the opening act 7:15-7:45 p.m. Saturday for Paul Thorn and Zac Hacker at the Scope 310 Concert in Muscle Shoals; and on Monday at Jonathan’s Steakhouse, Russellville. Details: myspace.com/josephbaldwincountry.

  • Karen Gruber is the featured musical artist 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Swampers at Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa, Florence. She will be accompanied by Joseph Stallworth on the piano.

  • The free film series “The Screening Room: Classics, Crowd-Pleasers, Cult Favorites and Neglected Gems” showcases Woody Allen’s Oscar-nominated 2005 drama “Match Point” at 7 tonight at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library, 350 N. Wood Ave., Florence. Allen’s neo-noir thriller stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Scarlett Johansson. The film — which is rated R for sexual content, suggested violence and some adult language — also features Matthew Goode, Brian Cox and Emily Mortimer. An ongoing retrospective of “Claude Rains Classics” continues at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Academy Award-winning wartime love story “Casablanca.” The 1943 favorite stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman and features character actor Rains. The “Casablanca” screening will be preceded by animation legend Friz Freleng’s 1943 Looney Tunes cartoon, “Fifth-Column Mouse.” The mini-series of “Claude Rains Classics” will continue through November in advance of a visit to the Shoals by Rains’ daughter, actress Jessica Rains and film historian David J.   • The 16th annual Trail of Tears Commemorative Motorcycle Ride is Saturday. The ride begins at the Alabama/Tennessee line on U.S. 72, Bridgeport, with riders departing at 8 a.m. and arriving in Waterloo at approximately 2 p.m. The town of Waterloo will host a Pow Wow beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday, featuring music, storytelling, displays and crafts. A commemorative walk will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Details: al-tn-trailoftears.net.
