  • "On the article in Oct. 20, 'Dueling beekeeper with allergies,' bees are always going to be around. Even if there's no house within 20 miles, you'll still see honeybees. Most of the time people will buy the flowers even though they have the allergies and then they complain about the bees being on them. There should be a compromise somewhere in there."
  • "The hate crimes bill that was recently passed is unconstitutional and it is an infringement on our freedom of speech, especially on our religious freedoms."
  • "You know, you can get a paper out of the paper box and it's only 50 cents, but if you go in Walmart, the dollar store and some other selected places like that, they charge you tax on a newspaper. It is the strangest thing I've ever heard. You don't charge tax on a newspaper that you can get out of a box for 50 cents."
  • "As a believer in the Holy Bible and a member of the Church of Christ, a group of my friends who attend church with me regularly have been talking about these hate talk shows that air on our local radio stations like Rush Limbaugh, and all the hate that Fox News provides on their news channel - that Christians should turn their channels and should not listen to this hate talk radio and TV because it poisons the mind. We should love our neighbors."
  • "It's true. People should not be squabbling over somebody buying boots who works for an electric company on electric company time. What they should be squabbling over is the CEOs who sit back on their laurels and take the millions of dollars of bonuses and everything else they're taking away from the hardworking person who deserves more credit."
  • "I went to Milner Rushing Pharmacy to get a flu shot. Before 8 a.m., a large crowd of people had arrived seeking the same. The scenario could have easily became chaotic, but without the help of an organized woman with pen and pad. She was part of the waiting group and as people arrived from all directions she entered their names on her list. All this went very smoothly, so maybe at future events this process could be used so there is no question about whose turn is next."
  • "I'm calling in regard to the comment in Friday's paper about the boots. They're missing the whole point completely. The point is they're on the time clock stealing time. They're just supposed to be doing their job. And that's wrong."
  • "The government promised the swine flu vaccine would be available to all people by October. Now they're saying it's December. These are the same clowns that want to create a government sponsored health care program."
  • "Wisdom consists of passing up non-essentials."
  • "The human race has gone to a lot of trouble to improve everything except people."
  • "I wonder why Russellville says trade at home, trade at home, and then go out of town to hire an accountant to audit their books. I know of four in Russellville that's got businesses and I don't know why they couldn't have used one of those."
  • "I was surprised to see Michelle Obama knew how to twirl a hoola-hoop around her waist. I think she could find something more productive to be doing."
  • "I wonder where the Muscle Shoals city employees would work at if the BP on Avalon Avenue would close."
  • "It is far past time for the taxpayers in Russellville to band together and demand that the board of education stops putting sports facilities before the classroom and academics. Also, before the city government levies an additional 1-cent sales tax they should be sure they're going to be content to serve one term in office."
  • "I have a family member that's dying of cancer. I wish our Congress would take some of the trillion dollars they're spending for this politically based health care reform and spend it on cancer research and maybe my family member wouldn't die."
