- "Do you think the pilots from Northwest Flight 188 may have been spending their Saturday afternoons officiating SEC football games? Just wondering."
- "I don't feel like you'll print this, but I'm just curious as to what happened to the policy of eminent domain for public good. Apparently it doesn't apply to the property owners along Wilson Dam Highway. There's going to be a wreck there one day, and God forbid, it affects anybody that owns property and wouldn't sell because of high prices."
- "If you're wondering what to get your mother or mother-in-law for Christmas, I'm a senior and I know. The best thing you can get for them is to help them one day a month by cleaning their house. I have had them do that for me and it was wonderful. Thank you, family."
- "The lowlife person that shot the chained-up dog is a coward building up his courage to kill someone else. And the people protecting him may be one of his victims."
- "It is time for Americans to realize that such programs as national service, national industrial policy and national health care are the same types of programs that were evident in fascism in Nazi, Germany, and these programs are fascism. It's time we stand up and realize that we're in trouble and we have got to save our country."
- "If the Florence Police Department doesn't have the resources to investigate trespassing on private property, discharging a firearm in the city limits and killing a defenseless dog on a chain, what do we need them for?"
- "I feel so sorry for the lady who lost her dog on Central Avenue. That was a cruel, unjust thing and I hope whoever did such a thing as that pays dearly. What is this world coming to? This is so awful. I pray for the lady and God bless her."
- "I thought that the You Said It column was supposed to be unbiased and allow people to speak their peace and tell what they felt, but after years of calling in to the You Said It column, I realize that you do screen people's comments and decide to tell only what's suitable for the paper, not for the public. That's a shame. That's sad.""
- This is for the lady who was talking about products being from China ... for our country and they were out to get us. I understand that you're not going to buy anything from China, and that means you're not going to be in Walmart or Sam's Club because it's hard-pressed to find anything made in America that Sam's Club or Walmart still sells. And, also, they're building a Walmart in China. I just wonder if they're going to sell U.S. products over there."
- "The lowlife person that shot the chained-up dog is a coward building up his courage to kill someone else. And the people protecting him may be one of his victims."
- "Why do Christian churches participate in any activity regarding Halloween? This pagan ritual began during the early BCs to honor the god of death. The Pope tried to rid this ritual by establishing Halloween to honor those killed in Rome for being Christians. Hallowed Eve became Halloween. Much hasn't changed since then, has it?"
- "Concerning the Franklin County repaving project, I've been trying to get my road paved for 30 years and I'm still on a gravel road."
- "I'd like to respond to the You Said It comment on Sunday morning about corporate America ruining America. The person said it's not good when corporations run your government. That's true, but it's even worse when the government runs your corporations."
