She will debut her CD at 6 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 8, at North Wood United Methodist Church in Florence.
Luna describes herself as a middle-aged mother of twins who has been singing her entire life. She just recently, however, took a leap of faith to make her music ministry a full-time commitment.
"I'm not a young girl who has her desires set on fame and fortune," Luna said. "Rather, I am a mother and housewife who believes that it is never too late to answer God's call and reach out to people in need."
Luna said she hopes her commitment will inspire others to use their time and talents as well.
"God expects us all to use the talents that he has given us." Danita said. "He doesn't care if you are older, poor or out of shape. Think about it for a minute; the 12 Disciples where not the pretty people who lived in the lap of luxury. They were all average people with average jobs, who made a huge difference."
Luna recently moved to Florence with her family when her husband began working for the University of North Alabama.
During their 25 years of marriage, she has lived in four states and has performed for numerous churches, concerts and other gatherings. She has performed on "The Buddy and Kay" television show in Tupelo, Miss., as well as, "The Country Boy Eddie Show" in Birmingham. Most recently, Luna had the opportunity to perform with the Shoals Symphony during its spring concert.
Her rich, bluesy sound has been described by some as a mixture of Patsy Cline, Anne Murray, Barbara Mandrell and Kathy Troccoli. Through her music, Danita sends a powerful, poignant message about God's love.
During the debut concert, Luna will perform selections from her CD, discuss her song selection and answer questions from the audience. Everyone is invited to this free concert and dress is casual.
Luna and her family belong to North Wood United Methodist Church. For details, call
