MOULTON - A Moulton man is in jail, accused of shooting at a man and woman with whom he was arguing over missing property.

Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Brian Keith Harville, 46, 13405 Court St., was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and menacing.

Mitchell said the charges stem from an incident that occurred at Harville's residence early Thursday morning.

Harville is accused of getting into an argument over some missing property with a man and woman who were visiting.

"When the people denied knowing anything about where the property was, Harville got a pistol and fired a shot at the man," Mitchell said.

The sheriff said the man and woman managed to get out of the residence without any further incident.

"The man suffered a laceration to his head, which required medical treatment, but it was not life threatening," Mitchell said.

Department officials said the injury is believed to have been caused by flying debris that was caused by the gun shot.

"They're just lucky that no one was hurt any worse," Mitchell said.

The sheriff said that alcohol is believed to have played a factor in the incident.

Harville is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on bail totaling $10,000.
