Better coverage
Last Modified: Monday, November 2, 2009 at 9:12 p.m.
This is in response to Matt Osborne's letter "demonizing" Alabama Blue Cross and Blue Shield because they provide an outstanding service without government intervention.
My wife and I retired and moved to Florence seven years ago. We are very happy in Florence.
We had various health care insurance through the years. Since retirement (at age 66 ... didn't have the luxury of being "tenured" or having an "early" retirement benefit at the expense of taxpayers), we have had Medicare with a supplemental policy carried by an out of state insurance company.
Earlier this year, we changed our supplemental coverage to the Alabama Blue Cross and Blue Shield Advantage coverage.
Bottom line: We have better coverage at about half the cost of our previous policy.
Dear Mr. Osborne: What am I missing here? Where am I going wrong?
