Suspects sought in stabbing
Police are looking for two men who are accused of being involved in a stabbing that took place at a Halloween party Saturday night.
Florence detective Kevin Jackson said the stabbing happened in the backyard of a residence in the 400 block of Poplar Street about 11 p.m. Saturday.
"The man who was hosting the party (and) these two men, both in their early 20s, were in the backyard when some kind of verbal argument started over a dog," Jackson said. "One thing lead to another and one of the men pulled a knife and cut the victim."
Jackson said the 26-year-old victim was cut under his arm and stabbed once in the chest. He was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
Jackson said the suspects left the party after the stabbing.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call police at 768-2728 or Shoals Area CrimeStoppers at 386-8685.

Police: Kids catch man in vehicle
Authorities say a man was arrested for breaking into a car at a church fall festival while his family members were inside.
Timothy Gene Abernathy, 33, 1980 Lauderdale 5, Florence, is charged with second-degree theft of property and unlawful breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
Lauderdale sheriff's investigator Richard Richey said the car owner's children caught Abernathy inside the vehicle. Richey said the incident took place in a church parking lot on Lauderdale 15.
"He is accused of taking $2 in change and a bottle of prescription medication from the vehicle," Richey said. "He admitted to being inside but said he had gotten confused and got in the wrong car."
