'Zombieland' avoided

In the Oct. 29 edition, a woman wrote a letter to the editor complaining that she was unable to buy tickets at a Shoals theater because she didn't have ID on the two minors with her, one of which was 13. She stated they were going to see "Zombieland," a rated-R film, which reviews have shown to be a very bloody, very graphic violent movie.
While this movie is supposed to be a comedy, rated-R specifically means 17 and over. I understand that minors can view the movie with a parent or guardian, but with the violence pervading our society today, why would we spend $25 or more to go see a movie such as this?
It's just my opinion, but as a parent of a pre-teen, I'd certainly not take my son to see a movie such as "Zombieland." I personally think the ticket seller at the theater made the right call by preventing these children from seeing the movie.
The only problem is, DVD renters won't be able to prevent a future renting of "Zombieland" by this family.
