Virdie A. Kramer

Virdie Ann Brewer Kramer, of Florence, Ala., was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Wayne County, Tenn., the daughter of the late George and Laura Brewer.

She was united in marriage to Arnold Kramer on Sept. 22, 1972, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2006. Mrs. Kramer was retired from General Motors in Detroit, Mich., and was of the Baptist faith.

She departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at ECM Hospital in Florence, Ala., at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Survivors include brother, James M. Brewer, of Waynesboro, Tenn.; sister, Freda Jones, of Florence, Ala.; special great-nieces, Jan Klett and husband, Charlie, and Kayla and Chrystal Hollis; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kramer was preceded in death by brothers, Wayne, Billy J. and Allen Brewer, and sisters, Leona Fair and Ervie Rowden.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Shackelford Funeral Home chapel, Collinwood, Tenn., with Donnie Overton officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Iron City, Tenn., with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the funeral home.
