SHEFFIELD - Police are looking for two men who are accused of breaking into a Sheffield home Thursday night and robbing the resident while holding a machete to her throat.
Police said the break-in occurred just after 6 p.m. at a residence on East Ninth Street.
"The lady was not injured, which is the good thing," Capt. Scott Wallace said. "She was understandably upset.
"Her boyfriend was at work, and she was at home alone," Wallace said. "She said someone knocked on the door and asked if her boyfriend was at home. She said they called a name that wasn't her boyfriend and she cracked open the door to see who it was.
"When she opened the door, they just pushed her back and shoved their way in."
Wallace said once inside the house, one of the men, who was trying to hide his face, pulled out a machete and held it to her neck.
"She said he was going to cut her head off," Wallace said.
The victim was kept in the living room by the man with the machete while the other man went to the bedroom and came out with a box containing a small amount of money.
"Apparently, they knew what they were looking for
and where it was located. Once they got the money, they left," Wallace said.
Although they tried to keep their faces covered, Wallace said the victim thought she recognized the robbers.
"She gave us possible names of who the robbers could be, and at this time, we're trying to locate them," he said.
The suspects are described as black men in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a green shirt and dark pants while the other wore a black hooded jacket and jeans.
