Veterans Day activities set

Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan said it doesn't matter what kind of ceremony takes place on Veterans Day; it's not enough to repay the debt Americans owe.
"There are men and women who have left their homes, their families, and went and fought to make the world a better place and to preserve the freedoms we enjoy," Logan said. "We owe them such a debt of gratitude, one that we can never repay."
For the past few days, various ceremonies have already taken place to honor America's veterans, and with Veterans Day fast approaching, events will continue in the next four days.
"As a veteran, it makes me feel good to know that my service is appreciated," said Richard Sheridan, a member of American Legion Post 21 in Tuscumbia.
He said many schools are having ceremonies this year.
"It's good to know that people are patriotic and they haven't forgotten the sacrifices that were made," he said.
