Red Bay falls to Lamar County

VERNON - Quarterback Michael Bradford passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another as the unbeaten Lamar County Bulldogs shut out the Red Bay Tigers in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Bradford threw one touchdown pass in the first quarter and two more in the second as the Bulldogs raced to a 35-0 halftime lead.

Marquis Plant returned the opening kickoff 75 yards for Lamar County's first touchdown, before Bradford took over. He threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Plant to give the Bulldogs a 14-0 first-quarter lead.

In the second quarter, Bradford scored on a 16-yard run before throwing a 20-yard touchdown pass to Will Franks and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Plant.

Kenneth Hill finished the Lamar County scoring spree with a 73-yard run in the

third quarter. Hill led the Bulldogs in rushing with 86 yards.

Carson Chiquito and Lance Bobbitt each had nine tackles to anchor a Lamar County defense that allowed just 152 yards of total offense (101 rushing, 51 passing).

Lamar County (11-0) hosts Tanner next Friday night in the second round of the playoffs. Red Bay finished the season 5-6.
