Ella B. Wilson

Ella Beals Wilson, age 92, of Florence, Ala., died Nov. 6, 2009, after an extended illness.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Old Zion Church in Emlenton, Pa., with services following at 2 p.m. Her niece, Rev. Linda Chambers, will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Old Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Venango County, Pa., on Sept. 28, 1917, to Winifred Kline and James Elgie Beals. She was married for 45 years to John Thomas Wilson, who preceded her in death in 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James Loy Beals and Robert Elgie Beals.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughters, Lucy Harris (John), of Florence, Ala., and Betsy Williams (Brady), of St. Paul, Minn.; her grandchildren, Clinton Harris, Rebecca Harris, Jennifer Leckie and Richard Williams; her great-grandchildren, Amber Leckie and Joseph Leckie; and her sister, Bertha Chambers.
Mrs. Wilson was a resident of Scottsboro, Ala., for many years before moving to Florence in 1985. She worked for several years as a nurse in the high-risk nursery at Huntsville Hospital and later the newborn nursery at Jackson County Hospital in Scottsboro, from which she retired in 1985. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Ella had a love of learning and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and excelled at all kinds of word games and puzzles. Her beautiful needlework is treasured by her family. Ella enjoyed a wide circle of friends who were frequent visitors to her home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing staff of station two at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home, who gave care throughout a number of years.
