Army Reserve Pfc. Brittney L. Vernon has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, S.C. She is the daughter of Wendi Wylie, of Florence, and is a 2009 graduate of Florence High School.
Army National Guard Pvt. Jessie A. Vandiver has graduated from basic military training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C., under the Split-option Enlistment Program to serve as a member of the Army National Guard or Reserve. He is the son of Noah Vandiver, of Tuscumbia, and attends Colbert Heights High School, Tuscumbia.
Jason R. Bates graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The son of Tommy L. and Joyce C. Bates, of Florence, he is a student at the University of North Alabama, Florence, and a 2006 graduate of Mars Hill Bible School, Florence.
Neal R. Kennedy graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The son of Neal G. and Karen S. Kennedy, of Florence, he is a student at the University of North Alabama, Florence, and a 2006 graduate of Mars Hill Bible School, Florence.

Air Force Airman Adam C. Brown graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Joy Brown, of Florence, and a 2009 graduate of Florence High School.
