TOWN CREEK - A Moulton man is in Lawrence County Jail after fleeing police, causing a Town Creek police officer to wreck and then wrecking his own vehicle.
Town Creek Police Chief Jerry L. Garrett said Jonathan Chad Terry, 26, of 16047 Alabama 157, faces driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, driving with a suspended license, attempting to flee and elude and more possible charges after the 9 p.m. incident Sunday.
Garrett said Officer Brandon Monday had only a bruised hand from the incident that began on Alabama 20 and ended on Alabama 101, with the help of the North Courtland Police Department and Lawrence County sheriff's department.
He said Terry fled after Monday tried to make a traffic stop. He said authorities in Lawrence County, Athens and Double Springs wanted Terry. Lawrence County has warrants for probation revocation. He did not know why the two towns wanted Terry.
Garrett said Monday and Terry's vehicles collided near the end of the chase. Both ended up in a ditch on Alabama 101. Terry got his vehicle out of the ditch, while Monday's patrol car was stuck, but Terry wrecked his vehicle shortly afterward.
Lawrence Baptist Medical Center treated Terry for minor injuries.
