Search for county escapee continues
The search is continuing for a Winston County man who escaped from the Franklin County Work Release Center on Nov. 14.
William Samuel Pugh, 29, 3800 Beach Grove Road, Haleyville, was last seen the weekend after his escape at a motel in Haleyville, Franklin County sheriff's officials said.
Authorities said Pugh was able to elude police when they tried to detain him.
Pugh is believed to be traveling with his wife, Beverly Hallmark, who is from the Bear Creek and Haleyville area. They are traveling with their small children, authorities said.
Investigators said Pugh is possibly still in the Bear Creek/Haleyville area but there have been reports that he may have gone to South Carolina or Florida.
He was arrested Aug. 14 in Russellville on a charge of second-degree attempting to manufacture a controlled substance.
Officials have second-degree escape warrants on Pugh.
Pugh is black, 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 332-8820 or CrimeStoppers at 386-8685.
