In 1969, a group of local musicians known as the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section opened a recording studio in Sheffield. The rest, as they say, is history.
Before their work was done, such stars as Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, Bob Segar, Wilson Pickett, Clarence Carter, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Lynyrd Skynyrd would touch the brilliance of Muscle Shoals Sound studio.

The concept of a rhythm section owning a recording studio was unheard of at the time in the United States. The recording studio became known as a mecca for rock, pop, and blues artists during the 1960s and 1970s.
