Muscle Shoals has long been known as the "Hit Recording Capitol of the World." It’s a label the city celebrates and embraces. The city’s annual festival, Muscle Shoals Music CityFest, revolves around that theme.
A half dozen or so musical groups, many with local roots, will perform during the two-day event. Those in attendance will be exposed to country, rock, jazz, gospel and rhythm and blues.
A bike tour, which features rides for kids and 37- and 63-mile rides for adults, kicks off the festivities. There’s a car, truck and motorcycle show later in the morning on Saturday, Oct. 6. There’s plenty of art on display. The opening-day festivities are capped with the headline singer and a fireworks display. The second day of the event usually focuses on gospel music.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets since seating is limited.
