Joe Wheeler State Park

You can escape to the wilderness and still have all the needed amenities of modern life with a visit to Joe Wheeler State Park.

The park, which is run by the State of Alabama, has a 75-room lodge, 18-hole golf course, restaurant, cabins, campgrounds, lakeside cottages, marina, boat slips, boat ramps, boat rentals, picnic facilities, swimming pool and numerous trails.

Oh yeah, there is some of the most beautiful scenes that nature has to offer. The lodge overlooks Wheeler Lake and you’ll likely see deer, wild turkeys, eagles and numerous other birds and wildlife. Deer and other wildlife, in fact, have been known to run across the fairway as a golfer prepares an approach shot to the green.
