A Franklin County man accused of providing alcohol to his son's friends during a campout at his residence and then raping one of the girls has been indicted by grand jurors.
Darren Jefferys, 40, has been indicted on two counts of first-degree rape, a felony, and one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Man indicted for alleged assault on wife, daughter

A man accused of grabbing his wife and daughter and slamming their heads together during a domestic dispute in May has been indicted in Franklin County.
Shane Doyle Scott, 33, 408 Robert E. Lee Drive, Hodges, is charged with willful abuse of a child, a felony, and domestic violence, third-degree assault, which is a misdemeanor.

Complaints lead to drug arrests

Complaints filed with area law enforcement agencies have led to the arrest of two Colbert County men on drug-related charges.
Colbert County Drug Task Force members joined sheriff's deputies in searching a Gate Six Road residence Thursday, resulting in the arrest of the two Muscle Shoals men.

Man accused of damaging computers

A Russellville man has been indicted and accused of sabotaging a computer system at a city business.
Police Chief Chris Hargett said a two-count indictment has been issued against Alexander Bernard Higgins, 38, 84 Ashe Ave., Russellville.
The charges are Class C felonies punishable by 1-10 years in prison if convicted.

Grand jury indicts man on rape charges

A Franklin County man has been indicted on rape and other sex abuse charges after being accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Brian Keith Upton, 144 Franklin 4, Vina, is charged with two counts of first-degree rape, said the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Upton, 30, also faces other felony charges related to the attack.

A Trinity man has been arrested after he was accused of inappropriately touching a young girl.
Lawrence County Sheriff Gene Mitchell said Roland Jeffrey Scott, 37, 8050 Lawrence 434, Trinity, was charged Friday with sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

A man accused of causing brain injury to his 4-month-old baby has been indicted for child abuse and first-degree assault.
Raymond Matthew McKinney, 21, 4570 Franklin 20, Lot 1, Phil Campbell, was indicted during the November grand jury session.
Both charges are Class C felonies punishable by one to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Videos to promote airport convenience

A local filmmaker has agreed to produce short promotional videos at the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport in hopes of increasing boardings on Northwest Airlink.
