  A 71-year-old man has been killed when the golf cart he was driving collided with a pickup truck.
  Alabama state troopers say Jerry Long of Athens was killed Thursday morning in the accident on Mooresville Road near the Southern Gales Golf Course about five miles north of Athens.

• Man dies at home in Thanksgiving Day fire8:08 AM

  An elderly man died in a Thanksgiving Day house fire in Blount County.
  Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington says 71-year-old Marvin Allen Dailey died in the early morning fire at his home on Blount County 29 in the Straight Mountain community.

• Ala legislators go to Iron Bowl, at no cost

  Many Alabama legislators will be among the spectators for the annual Iron Bowl football game, and each of them has been provided with a pair of free tickets.

• Jeffco homicides on pace to decline

  Jefferson County police officials say the homicide rate in unincorporated portions of the county is on pace to decline this year.
  Sheriff Mike Hale told The Birmingham News that the seven homicides reported this year compared with 13 last year represents a job well done by officers.

• Green scores 22 points in Alabama win

  Alabama got the win and Baylor learned from its first loss of the season.
  JaMychal Green scored 22 points and Mikhail Torrance had 20 to help Alabama beat Baylor 79-76 in the Old Spice Classic on Thursday night.

• Tuskegee throws Alabama State for loss

  Tony Forney ran for 103 yards and a touchdown and Tuskegee set a school record by holding Alabama State to minus-57 yards rushing in a 21-0 victory Thursday in the Turkey Day Classic.
