Q: After the 1-3 start, how did Deshler players keep their focus and right the ship?
A: We knew going into the season that the first part of our season was the toughest part. We had a lot of young guys with not much experience. But we’ve been getting better pushing hard in practice. We always knew we were still a good team.
Q: How big was the victory over Brooks confidence wise?
A: It was huge. It is always great to get a win but to beat a team like Brooks is special. We grew up that game, and it all came together.
That win changed our season.
Q: How big is this Friday’s game against Colbert County?
A: It is really big. Not only is it a region game, but we are big rivals.
There is a lot of history in this game. They have a lot of great athletes, and it is going to be a battle. We will have to play our best to come out with a win.
Q: Your uncle, Don Creasy, was a longtime, successful coach for Colbert County. Did you grow up cheering for the Indians?
A: I did. All of my family went there, but playing little league baseball with Deshler guys got me interested in Deshler. I love the atmosphere and love playing here.
Q: With your family’s history at Colbert County, is Friday’s game extra special for you?
A: It was different last year because we played at their place. There is so much sweat and blood in that program with my family, it is going to be a fun game. I love playing in these kinds of game.
