Bright Side

Wellington Place of the Shoals Assisted Living and Clare Bridge Place celebrated Valentine’s Day by naming two kings and two queens. The residents and staff voted for their choices and the winners were announced at a party and ceremony Feb. 14.

For Clare Bridge Place, the memory care community at Wellington, the queen is Juanita Zickos, of Sheffield. The king is James Lightsey of Florence. At Wellington Place Assisted Living, the chosen royalty were Peggy Weatherby, queen, and Jerry Weatherby, king, both of Tuscumbia.

All the residents were treated to a valentine dinner and the royal court was joined by family and friends.

Bright Side includes items of achievements by local residents in areas of pageants, talent, music, art, community awards, Scouting, etc., and 100th birthdays. It is published on Sundays on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, contact Teri Thornton, lifestyle editor, teri.thornton@timesdaily.com or 256-740-5742.
