Burn victim has pneumonia

BIRMINGHAM — A Florence man injured while saving his two children from a house fire last week has pneumonia, family members said this morning.

“Shane is still the same, but he does now have pneumonia,” his mother Vonda Green reported this morning through an Internet message.

Timothy Shane Green, 39, is still in critical condition at UAB Hospital.

He has been at UAB since last week after he suffered burns and sustained a serious injury during the fire a 421 Enterprise St. in east Florence.

Firefighters said Shane Green broke a window with his hand and lifted his children — Trinity, 2, and Devin, 6 — to safety.

The two children were released from the hospital and are staying with relatives.

Vonda Green said the two children had checkups Wednesday and both got “good reports.”

The Green Family Benefit Fund has been established at Bank Independent to help the family.
