Cancel session

The Alabama Legislature will convene in February. By all accounts, because of the dull and do-nothing leadership, our state would be better off to cancel the session and pay the money back on the millions legislators received last session because they did not know how to make a budget and had to raid the savings accounts set aside by previous Democratic legislatures.

Republican leaders are clueless. They have announced they will focus on state's rights during the session. Last year, it was education, but they spent their time trying to devise ways to steal money from the state for the corporate, for-profit schools from our limited state education dollars, But, they owed it to the loyal Republican lobbyists to try to pad their pockets.

The state rights issue is a waste of time because this legislative leadership is doing nothing new or doing anything to make life better for Alabama citizens.

Our tax dollars would be better spent if they would concentrate on a study of growing petunias.

One of the biggest gains for Alabama would be the expanded Medicaid budget which would expand the health care industry in Alabama by bringing in millions of new dollars, but the governor has refused it because he is limited in vision and aspirations for our citizens.
