In the ‘90s, I became addicted to talk radio and I'm still trying to break the habit. My addiction started mainly because I have a part-time job that requires a lot of driving.
For years, I "dittoed" many of the points of views for current issues in the news expressed by both secular and Christian radio hosts. At some point, I realized that with all of the technology resources available, I needed research for actual facts to come to my on conclusions. Currently, it disturbs me that I am hearing both secular and Christian radio hosts promote negativity, paranoia, and distrust for our government and our country's majority elected leaders.
Specifically, I am extremely disappointed with a Christian network and its radio talk show hosts, which have many followers. The most disturbing is the broadcast aired by its general manager. In my opinion, he continually makes ludicrous, speculative and non-factual comments about our president.
It is implied if one disagrees with his comments, he or she is either misinformed, is influenced by secular ideas, labeled a left-wing liberal, or worse. Overall, I get the feeling that the entire network shares his opinion. Also, I feel this network condemns the entire Democrat Party, and this attitude has permeated into the psyche of many Christians.
Are these kinds of broadcast radio shows exhibiting Christ-like teachings?
It is not my purpose to insult anyone regarding his or her political preference; it is for all to consider the current political atmosphere.
