FLORENCE — A Colbert County deputy was injured in a one-car accident Wednesday night, officials said.

State troopers said Durand Deon Prince, 21, Florence, was injured when the patrol car he was driving flipped.

The accident happened at 9:40 p.m. near Rickard Cut-off Road and Mount Hester Road, south of Cherokee.

Prince was taken to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and later released, hospital officials said.

Sheriff Ronnie May said Prince was headed to a residence on White Pike to back up a deputy in regards to a domestic problem.

“Apparently, he came off of Rickard Cut-off and lost control and flipped the patrol car over,” May said. “We’re just glad he is all right.”
