RUSSELLVILLE -- Franklin County grand jurors have indicted a Haleyville man for rape, sodomy and soliciting sex from a minor, while his wife faces charges related to knowing about what was happening and doing nothing about it, officials said today.
Courthouse officials said Dan Busby Jr., 58, 178 Kidds Road, Lot 19, Haleyville, is indicted on first-degree rape, second-degree rape, electronic solicitation of a minor second-degree sodomy and another charge related to sexual abuse.
His wife, Kristy Ann Busby, 34, same address, is indicted on the charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and another sexual abuse-related offense, records indicate.
Kristy Busby was arrested as a co-conspirator because officials said she knew about what was going on but didn’t want to get her husband in trouble.
Dan Busby is accused of sexually abusing the girl for more than two years. She was 10 when the abuse began, officials said.
Authorities said the Busbys knew the girl.
The couple, which has lived in three northwest Alabama counties in recent years, was indicted during the January grand jury session.
